Recent Projects
The following is a selection of some recent projects that the Pakistan Development Gateway Foundation (PDGF) and the PCG have been working on.
| Open Source CMS Showcase |
| [June, 2006] In order to demonstrate the benefits, ease of use, features, and versatility of using Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Content Management Systems (CMS), PDGF decided to create its PCG website in different CMSs. Although this showcase is temporarily offline while we switch web servers, the PCG was created in Joomla!, Mambo, and Drupal. Implementations in progress included Xoops, Typo3, and Alfresco. |

| Earthquake Relief Portal |
| [October, 2005] In the aftermath of the powerful earthquake that hit the northern parts of Pakistan on October 8th, 2005, PDGF collaborated with insanityWORKS.org in order to build a comprehensive information portal (archived here). This portal disseminated relief information and helped people contribute to the rescue and relief efforts that were underway. Later, PDGF assisted with the information collection activities spearheaded by Risepak. |

| Insaaf.org.pk Portal |
| [February, 2005] PDGF, in collaboration with TheNetwork for Consumer Protection (TheNetwork), created an information portal as part of the the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Access to Justice Program's (AJP) information dissemination activities. This portal was the first phase of a larger scheme, in which an
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution was to be created to track complaints of citizens seeking justice. Essentially, this solution -- for all practical purposes, a Customer
Relationship Management (CRM) system -- was supposed to give citizens direct, recorded, tracked and
reported (through regularly published statistical analyses) access to groups and individuals
responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of this country. This project is currently on hold and its second phase has not yet been initiated. |

| Open Source Introductions |
| [December, 2004] Towards the end of 2004, PDGF started introducing and dissemination information about open source content management systems. One such session was a presentation made at the Univeristy of Peshawar in collaboration with the Open Source Resrouce Center.
